What We Store Locally
The following data is stored only on your device for app functionality:
- App Settings: Your preferred segment duration (1-300 seconds), video quality settings (high/medium/low), and auto-save preferences
- Processed Video Metadata: Information about videos you've processed, including file paths, duration, segment count, and processing dates
- Thumbnail Images: Small, compressed thumbnail images (JPEG format) for video and segment previews
- Video Segments: The actual split video files stored in the app's secure sandbox
Data Storage & Security
Local Storage Locations
All app data is stored securely within iOS app sandbox:
- App Settings: Stored in iOS UserDefaults (encrypted by iOS)
- Video Segments: Stored in app's Documents directory under "VideoSegments" folder
- Thumbnails: Stored as compressed JPEG data within app metadata
- Metadata: Stored as JSON data in UserDefaults
Security Measures
- iOS Sandbox: App data is isolated and protected by iOS security
- Data Encryption: Leverages iOS data protection and encryption
- Permission-based Access: Photo library access only with explicit user consent

Photo Library Access
Permission Requirements
WA Status Splitter requires access to your photo library for the following purposes:
- Video Selection: To allow you to choose videos for processing
- Auto-Save Feature: To automatically save processed segments to your Photos library (optional feature)
Permission Management
- Explicit Consent: App will request permission when first accessing photo library
- Granular Control: You can grant limited or full access to your photo library
- Permission Revocation: You can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings
- Limited Access: App works with limited photo library access if granted
What We Access
- Selected Videos Only: Only videos you explicitly choose for processing
- No Browsing: We don't scan or browse your entire photo library
- No Metadata Collection: We don't collect photo library metadata
- No Upload: Videos are never uploaded or transmitted
Data Processing
Local Processing
All video processing operations happen entirely on your device:
- Video Splitting: Uses Apple's AVFoundation framework for local processing
- Thumbnail Generation: Creates preview images using device's processing power
- Quality Conversion: Applies quality settings using local hardware acceleration
- File Management: All file operations occur within app's secure sandbox
Processing Information
- Segment Duration: Configurable from 1 to 300 seconds (default: 30 seconds)
- Quality Settings: High, medium, or low quality presets
- Output Format: MP4 format for maximum compatibility
- File Naming: Automatic naming based on original video and segment number
Performance Considerations
- Device Resources: Processing uses device CPU and GPU
- Battery Usage: Video processing may consume significant battery

Third-Party Services
No External Services
WA Status Splitter does not use any third-party services for:
- Video Processing: All processing is done locally

The app only uses standard Apple frameworks and services:
